Outlander star admits ‘no one was going through what we were’

Outlander star Sophie Skelton has recalled some fascinating memories from her time on set with co-star Richard Rankin.

The duo were introduced to the hit Starz series in the second season and became fan favorites. Skelton plays Brianna Fraser , who is the daughter of Jamie and Claire played by Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe.

In the popular time traveling series , Rankin’s character, an Oxford professor, follows Brianna back in time after falling in love with her.

“Richard and I have been on such a unique journey,” Skelton shared about their time on screen together. “We had each other as a bit of a crutch, because no one else was going through what we were going through.”

The final days of the hit show were emotional - Rankin recently admitted there were tears shed during the cast’s final read-through of the last season , saying: “It was a very emotional read-through, we had photos up from all the past seasons of the show. You can feel the nostalgia and what it meant to people. There were a lot of tears in the room that day.”

Throughout filming the previous six seasons, Skelton said their time on set was always playful. She recently told Square Mile that Rankin pretends he’s an American named Bob to make her laugh.

“Bob won a competition to be on set, and he’s infatuated with Brianna,” Rankin explained about his character. “(Bob’s) always looking to rehearse the kissing scenes.”

The second half of season seven airs this November. The eighth and final installment is slated to air in 2025.
