The Haydens' Dark Hollow Farm came away victorious in three of the four classes. Their colt by The Factor, co-bred and owned with Ellen Charles (Hillwood Stable), was selected Grand Champion by this year's judge, longtime bloodstock agent Rick Abbott.

Nolan Ramsey, longtime assistant to trainer Mike Maker, is beginning to make waves since launching his own stable. In his 29th start, the 27-year-old registered his first stakes win as a trainer when the Street Magician gelding Whenigettoheaven streaked home in the July 14 $75,000 Ben's Cat Stakes at Laurel Park. The milestone win was made all the more special since the gelding is owned by Ramsey's grandfather, prominent horse owner and breeder Ken Ramsey, who is recuperating from a recent kidney transplant surgery.

Assembly Bill 12, signed into law last October, says regardless of whether the residential property is unfurnished or furnished, only one month’s rent can be charged in addition to any rent for the first month paid on or before initial occupancy.

Longtime Florida horseman Milton S. Hendry, 82, died June 27 in Crystal River, Fla. The native of Bay Springs, Miss., loved horses all of his life and first became professionally involved with show horses, reining horses, and barrel racing. He later rode at unsanctioned meets in the South and Midwest before receiving his jockey license to ride Quarter Horses in Louisiana in 1972. Before retiring from riding in 1986, he was a leading Quarter Horse jockey at Commonwealth Race Course in Louisville, Ky., and Pompano Park in Pompano Beach, Fla.
