Friends and family across Crenshaw County are mourning the death of a man well-known and loved throughout the area.

Jason Adam Bowen, 43, died of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash in the early morning hours of July 4. Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division responded to the scene where they found a single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m. Thursday.

Senior Trooper Kendra McKinney said Bowen, a Luverne resident, was fatally injured when the 2007 Nissan Maxima he was driving left the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. Bowen, who was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Crenshaw County 50, approximately 10 miles north of Luverne, in Crenshaw County. According to Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chris Stewart, the Sheriff’s office assisted Troopers on the scene. Steward said the crash occurred in the 2000 block of Live Oak Road.

Nothing further is available as Troopers continue to investigate.

Bowen was a Highland Home School graduate who worked at Sanders Lead. He and his wife, Heather Norman Bowen, have three children.

Editor’s Note: Jason Bowen was known and loved by many Crenshaw County residents, who have already poured out their condolences across social media platforms. We join the community in mourning his loss. The thoughts and prayers of The Luverne Journal staff are with the Bowen family.
