Niall Horan shared his experience of having to walk to one of his own concerts for the first time in his life in a "crazy" video .

The ex-One Direction heartthrob was set to serenade fans at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, but a traffic nightmare meant he ditched his wheels and hit the pavement instead.

Sharing his unusual journey on TikTok with the Proclaimers' anthem I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) in the background, he quipped: "Traffic too crazy in Toronto, so I'm walking to the venue."

He continued, expressing his disbelief: "In all my years of playing shows, I don't think I've ever walked into a venue."

Finally reaching his destination, he triumphantly declared: "We've made it!" The 30-year-old chart-topper probably enjoyed the rare chance to stroll through the city unnoticed.

Previously, the Slow Hands singer opened up about the paralysing fear he felt stepping outside due to One Direction's overwhelming popularity. Chatting with The Sun's Bizarre column, he recounted: "There were periods where you'd go out and you wouldn't get five yards outside the door."

Recalling a particularly harrowing shopping trip, he said: "I remember one time I stupidly went to Westfield, in West London, and honestly, swear to God, I was like, 'I'm going to die in here. I'm never getting out'. It was the fear of that which kept me in."

Reflecting on his self-imposed isolation, he admitted: "I probably became a bit of a recluse in 2012, 2013, 2014 . . . It was probably all in my head but I became a recluse because of the thought of going out, when I probably could have."

He mused on the sudden rise to fame, saying: "There is a side of it where you've just come from zero to hero, the shock of it. It's a shock to the system and you're trying to live a normal life."

The Heaven singer hasn't taken the stage with his former bandmates since their 2015 break, and despite carving out a successful solo career, he's confessed that he now enjoys an undisturbed life.

He further shared: "Now I live the most normal life I could possibly live. I can go to the shops and buy my own dinner and just general stuff. There was a period where if someone said, 'Do you want to grab a coffee? ' or 'Do you want to go for lunch? ' I'd have said absolutely not."
