SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Effingham County Sherriff’s Office has issued a warning against scammers posing as law enforcement officials.

The office seeks to remind citizens that law enforcement agencies will not attempt to contact them via phone to pay warrants.

Warrants must be paid at your local courthouse or Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

The Effingham County Sherriff’s Office has also advised against predatory phone calls offering remote computer repair in exchange for Bitcoin or gift cards.

If you feel you or a loved one has fallen victim to a scam, please contact The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office or your local municipal police department.
