I'm not a summer season lover during the daytime, but I'll admit there's something magical about gathering around a summer bonfire with your friends, especially early or late in the season when it's not too muggy. When those afternoon BBQs, beach trips, and pool parties stretch long into the evening, that's when the chill vibes are at their best - at least in my humble opinion.

Unfortunately, summer nights are also when the bugs come out to play, and you need a contingency plan for them, lest you and your companions end the night covered in mosquito bites. If you're starting to get sick of the smell of citronella candles, consider using this seasonal Costco find to deter insect invaders!

Costco vlogger @costcofinds_ highlighted a lot of brand-new Costco summer buys here, but one thing in particular struck my eye: that LED flying insect trap. I don't know about you, but I seem to be one of those people that mosquitoes find tastier than others - I don't know if it's my blood type or what. I'd love to not have to douse myself with mosquito repellent for every summer party, and a bug trap like that looks right up my alley!

    Sleek, Lightweight, Bug-Trapping Power

So let's talk shop: this is the PIC Flame Effect Insect Trap . The person behind @costcofinds found it at their local Costco store for $89.99; online, I found it going for $109.99 with shipping and handling included.

The thing that first caught my eye was its appearance. A lot of common bug traps look generic or just downright ugly, and while they're not meant to look like fine art, I'm a sucker for nice aesthetics. The PIC trap is designed to look like a decorative chimenea fireplace like you might find sitting on a fancy patio, and it has the aforementioned flame flicker effect to create the illusion of a fire inside. It's meant to look pretty and blend in with the scenery, rather than stick out like a sore thumb like some bug zapping lanterns do.

Make no mistake, though, this thing packs a punch. The product listing claims that it attracts and kills insects with one acre of coverage, using an LED light to draw 'em in before sucking them down with the quiet-running vacuum inside. To clean it, you just have to remove the catch basket at the bottom and dump out the dead bugs- yuck.

The product is designed to be weatherproof, withstanding wind and rain. At 20 inches high, 12 inches wide and deep, and weighing 6 pounds, it's lightweight and sizable, but not huge, allowing it to fit even on smaller porches and patios. Only problem is, it needs to be plugged in to work, so I wouldn't go backcountry camping with this thing. For a pool party or backyard BBQ, though, it'd be perfect!

Now here's the bad news: when I checked today, it was showing out of stock online. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if people were snatching these things up prior to their 4th of July parties . If you're desperate, the PIC Flame Effect Insect Trap is also available through other reliable vendors like Lowes and Amazon; you just won't get the same deal you would picking it up in-person at Costco. Personally, I'm going to wait till my local Costco has it in store again- I doubt it'll take them too long to restock!
