A trip to Walmart seems to be getting more expensive these days and a customer's own experience reflects as much.

"This was $49 … FORTY-NINE F*****G DOLLARS???! Is y’all cool? We can’t keep living like this …" user CurtiMagurtti tweeted.

Along with their tweet, the user also posted a photo of their receipt, showing off their total of $49.49 for just four items.

CurtiMagurtti's purchases in their grocery trip included, along with the prices they paid:

    • A four-pack of Colgate 360º toothbrushes - $13.96
    • Guru Nanda Oil Pulling Oral Rinse - $9.98
    • Guru Nanda Oxyburst Technology Mouthwash - $12.79
    • Guru Nanda Original Concentrated Mouthwash - $8.78

This all summed up to a subtotal of $45.51, along with a $3.98 sales tax of 8.76% added.

    'THE LOCAL DOLLAR TREE'

People who saw this post are equally shocked by the amount spent on just four items at Walmart.

Some even reacted to the post.

"Naaah that Guru brand be at the local dollar tree!!" one person wrote. "I would’ve went to the dollar tree before the Walmart lol."

"Chile if you would’ve added a deodorant it would’ve been sixty," another tweeted.

"I coupon a lot bc this is ridiculous," another replied. "I feel like a old woman saying this omg."

"What kill me is these same items is prolly $8-10 less at Sams but you’ll get like a 16 pack of tooth brushes and a two pack of everything else," responded a fourth.

    PRICE HIKES

Other Walmart shoppers are on CurtiMagurtti's same page as many have slammed the price hikes on essentials.

A customer compared a Walmart purchase from four years ago to a recent one.

The stark difference in grocery prices since 2020 has left shoppers astounded, with many calling out "insane" inflation rates.

I coupon a lot bc this is ridiculous."

The coronavirus pandemic's massive impact on the economy significantly disrupted the retail industry, leading to soaring prices.

Even retail giants like Walmart have struggled to maintain low prices while keeping their in-store operations running smoothly into 2024.

Despite their efforts, many items, including essential breakfast foods, remain costly.

Jennifer, a regular Walmart shopper, experienced the drastic price increase firsthand.

She and her husband were reminiscing about the days when they could buy four 12-packs of drinks for $10.

Curious, Jennifer checked her Walmart mobile app for past orders and discovered a 2020 purchase of 30 items, including various cereals, for a total of $70.29.

When she tried to reorder the same items, she was shocked to see a much higher total: $165.42.

"We can't go on living like this. I can't be the only one that feels this way," Jennifer said.

Meanwhile, in February, an upset shopper criticized the chain for an alleged 18% price hike over a two-week period.

And Aldi unveiled its 'budget' products to help customers with summer activities.
