The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Releases New Images

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim has released new images showing the film's protagonist, Hèra.

The first anime adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy novels, is set centuries before Frodo's quest to destroy the One Ring, as told through Peter Jackson’s live-action trilogy.

Helmed by famed anime director Kenji Kamiyama, The War of the Rohirrim centres on Hèra (Gaia Wise) and her father, Helm Hammerhand (Brian Cox), who founded Helm's Deep. When Dunlending wildmen attack, they’re plunged into a devastating war.

Previously, Warner Bros. released three images for The War of the Rohirrim, as you can see above ( Lord Of The Rings animated movie revealed in three epic new images ). However, they were conceptual pieces.

The new images, an Anime Expo exclusive , are the first ones set in the film’s actual animation style. It seems to blend classic anime with more realistic backgrounds.

In terms of characters, Hèra promises to provide a fresh perspective. There aren’t many stories told from a female point of view in The Lord of the Rings universe, so it’s a new way to explore Middle-earth.
