FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – PG&E customers in Fresno County were set to be impacted by intentional power cuts on Friday and Saturday, but PG&E has since called off the warning.

PG&E published a warning on Thursday saying that Public Safety Power Shutoffs may be enacted in Fresno County on Friday and Saturday. The utility adds that specific addresses, maps, and shutoff details are typically available two days before the shutoff. However, as of Friday morning, Fresno County is no longer listed.

Other counties that were subject to Public Safety Power Shutoffs included San Luis Obispo County. As of Friday, the only counties currently subject to Public Safety Power Shutoffs are Monterey County and San Benito County.

PG&E advises customers to check their address using this link to find out if they will be affected.

State officials say a Public Safety Power Shutoff is when utilities temporarily turn off power to specific areas to reduce the risk of fires caused by electric infrastructure.

PG&E considers Public Safety Power Shutoff as a last resort when high winds and other uncontrollable weather conditions create public safety hazards, such as falling trees and wildfires.
