OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — As the excitement builds at Heritage Port, thousands of people are eagerly anticipating a spectacular fireworks show.

The good news is the crew from the American Fireworks Company is definitely up to the task.

A crew of six technicians have been hard at work since early Thursday morning to make sure the night’s show is one folks won’t soon forget.

It take an enormous amount of work to pull off a show of this magnitude but lead technician Garrett Pugh is a sixteen- year veteran in the fireworks industry.

He says his crew will be ready once the sun goes down.

For our crew, this is the biggest show that we do. We have six shows this, in eight days, and this is our biggest one. We got here around 9:30 this morning and started setting everything up. Hopefully, we will be done by dinner time and kind of relaxed for a couple of hours before we head up the river to shoot the show tonight.”

Pugh says his crew will set off somewhere around three thousand pyrotechnics during tonight’s show.

When he is not setting off fireworks, Pugh is a police officer in the Martinsburg, West Virginia, area. He served on the Wheeling Police Department for nearly 10 years before relocating.
