When you buy a new house typically it doesn’t come with a nice landscape design , and if it does, it's not personalized, so you opt to create your own. In doing so it boosts your home's curb appeal and makes it look warm and inviting.

Starting your own landscaped design isn’t necessarily the easiest thing because buying large plants at nurseries such as shrubs, bushes and trees costs an arm and a leg, but opting to save money by buying small plants surly doesn’t create the dramatic landscaping effect. But one gardner shared a genius tip of buying plants at a perennial price that grow just as large as a shrub, check it out below!

Gardening is expensive, there’s no doubt about it, so here’s one way to save money in the garden on shrubs. Plant Caryopteris! It is one of my favorite perennials because you get a HUGE bang for your buck. It’s a woody perennial that basically acts like a shrub — if you garden in Atlanta, like me, and we have a mild winter — it stays evergreen. Plus it blooms for months — and the bees love the purple blooms 🐝 Le Barbe Bleue from @monroviaplants grows in zones 5-9; other Caryopteris varieties grow only to zone 6. If you live in a colder climate, always check the tag before purchasing for hardiness zone. #gardenhack #gardentok #moneysavingtips #gardening #planting #perennialgarden #mymonrovia #pollinatorgarden #southerngarden #georgiagarden #atlanta #atlantagarden #zone8a #creatorsearchinsights

Now this is brilliant! The caryopteris is wonderful perennial plant that grows to be three feet tall and three feet wide and grows extremely well in zones 6 through 9. So for the price of a small prennial you get a plant that basically acts like a shrub.

The Best Natural Plant Pest Control

Diatomaceous earth is the best natural landscaping and garden pest defense product on the market. This fine white powder is made from fossilized remains of tiny aquatic organisms called diatoms, which when get on the skin of insects dries them out instantly, killing them, which makes for quite the protective coating on plants!

Don’t go overboard but dust this powder on the tops and stems of your plants down to the base to give an even protective coating. Pro tip, use a shifter or fine mesh strainer to apply it!

Apply once it starts to wash away or lighten up, or of course if you see and infestation!
