Signings Continue With European Clubs Including Kluge, Schneider

European clubs continue to fill out their rosters as the PWHL takes a week off before teams can send free agent invites beginning July 8.

Laura Kluge, one of the top remaining undrafted free agents chose to sign back in her home country of Germany, returning to her hometown club of Eisbären Berlin Juniors after winning back-to-back DFEL titles with Memmingen, including being named playoff MVP last season.

Kluge could still attend a PWHL camp as a free agent this Fall, or could be offered a contract this summer by a PWHL team as she could certainly impact a roster. For now however, she's secured a spot in Europe in case.

"We had hoped that she would stay with us for another year," said Peter Gemsjäger, of Memmingen in a translated news release . "But it is understandable that Laura wants to return home to her family and friends after eight years abroad and with us."

"Laura has helped us a lot in the three years she has been here and she leaves a big gap," added head coach Waldemar Dietrich.

The 5-foot-10 Kluge was one of the standouts at the 2024 World Championships scoring five points in six games for Germany.

Another trio of players signed in Sweden'sm SDHL this season including former PWHL Ottawa forward Malia Schneider. Schneider signed with Ottawa prior to the roster freeze. She'd been offered a reserve position with Ottawa to open the season but chose to go to Sweden where she played with Brynas. Next season the former Canadian U-18 national team member and Colgate captain will play with SDE.

HV71 also signed a pair of North American players inking Kennedy Bobyck and Teghan Inglis out of the NCAA. Bobyck the last five seasons with Minnesota State where last season she compiled 17 point sin 36 games. Inglis, a defender, captained Merrimack last year recoding 11 points in 42 games. She started her NCAA career with Ohio State before moving to Merrimack.
