According to a report by News Observer, Wilmington ranks No. 1 on a list of cities that attracted new residents last year, according to results published Monday, Jan. 2. To create the list, the moving company United Van Lines said it studied more than 100,000 shipments that took place throughout 2022. About 30 to 40% of those customers also filled out surveys, in which they shared demographic information and their reasons for relocating, according to information shared with McClatchy News.

The Aurora City Council will consider using opioid settlement money Monday to pay for drug treatment for clients of its yet to open homeless services campus. The council will vote during its study session whether to spend money from the fund on a peer advisor, a van to transport clients from the navigation center to treatment, and a case manager. The city will receive about $14 million in opioid settlement funds, according to a presentation by city staff to the city council.

The mother of a Denver homeless man told the City Council Monday that city-sponsored services have failed her son. Barbara Hallick Yeomans made her remarks during public comment period of the City Council meeting.
