HICKMAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Home flippers appear to have their eyes on Hickman County. A report released last month ranked the county second in the country for investors buying a home just to sell it for a profit.
Local realtor Beth Edwards has spent the last 20 years living and working in Hickman County. She’s a fourth-generation Tennessean who wouldn’t call anywhere else home.
As she worked to sell a home on George Road, she told News 2 she expects the hot market to last.
4 Tennessee cities named among ‘150 best places to live in America’ “It’s more rural — lots of land, lots of water, great growth of just having the rolling hills and the beauty,” Edwards said, adding that it’s an attractive area for people moving to Tennessee, especially for those coming from California and Washington state.
A recent report from ATTOM , a leading curator of land and real estate data, showed Hickman County as one of the leading counties in the U.S. for home flipping, which is when an investor buys a property with the intention of selling it for a profit rather than living there.
According to ATTOM, 20.3% of all home sales in Hickman County from January through March involved buyers who flipped the homes. Hickman County took second place in the report while Cobb County, Georgia, was first with 23.5% and Houston County, Georgia, came in third with 20.1%.
Cities with the most expensive homes in Tennessee “I can see the reasons for the growth of wanting to come here to do that,” Edwards said. “A lot of the town has stayed the same for years, so older homes are here, but a lot of older homes have also been left vacant, and, as we all know, homes are lives. They need people.”
Hickman County is expected to continue seeing growth in the area.
