A man had to be rescued Thursday 80 miles off the coast of the Shinnecock Inlet after puncturing both of his legs with a fishing hook trying to catch a tuna, police say. Police say an off-duty Suffolk County police officer, Willliam Parmenter, was fishing in the Atlantic Ocean when he heard a mayday call over ther radio. He then jumped into action to help 66-year-old Norman Orsinger, of East Patchogue. Orsinger punctured both of his legs with a fishing hook while trying to catch a tuna. Officer Parmenter located the boat and applied tourniquets to stop the bleeding before a Coast Guard helicopter met them in the water. Orsinger was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital. News 12 is told that he is expected to be OK. "
