In a grand gesture of patriotism, a Louisiana family has wrapped their house in an enormous American flag to mark the Fourth of July celebrations.

John Beard from Walker decided to adorn his abode with the colossal 50-foot-wide flag that tips the scales at 60 pounds. "We figured in honor of the Fourth of July week , we would cover our house just to symbolize how America has been so great to us and how it covers us, and covers our household," Beard shared with WBRZ.

The flag was a gift from a Marine veteran who completed four tours in Iraq and is a close friend of Beard's. "We're really good friends, he had the flag and he wanted to do something with it but didn't know what to do with it," explained Beard, reports the Express US .

"So actually my son here said let's put it on the house, so we did."

Beard, alongside his son, undertook the colossal endeavor of carefully draping the flag over the entire house, climbing up a ladder to spread it across the roof and securing it in place.

"[We were] trying to be as respectful as possible to the flag," Beard emphasized.

"It's very emotional for me. We just love our country," he expressed.

"I just hope that for one day, the Fourth of July, that everybody can just come together and remember America."

The Fourth of July holiday commemorates the birth of a nation free from British dominion.

The day is typically celebrated with cookouts, fireworks, and parades.
