Fans are speculating about seeing Dijak and Ricochet in AEW following their departure from WWE. Last week, Dijak revealed that WWE chose not to renew his contract, making him a free agent. Meanwhile, reports indicate that the decision to let Dijak go caused a surprise backstage.

On the other hand, former WWE United States Champion Ricochet was recently written off television. He had informed WWE of his intention to leave the promotion after his current contract expired. To book his departure, Bron Breakker brutally attacked him on WWE Raw a few weeks ago.

Following his exit from the WWE, many within the WWE and AEW expect Ricochet to join Tony Khan’s promotion. Moreover, a few days ago, reports emerged that Ricochet was expected to join All Elite Wrestling.

As AEW prepares for their biggest show of 2024, All In, fans were expecting Ricochet to make an appearance this past weekend at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door. Many anticipated Ricochet would confront Will Ospreay to set up a match at All In at Wembley Stadium. However, these speculations did not come true. Recent reports have provided an explanation for why the high-flyer couldn’t appear at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door this past weekend in New York.

Why didn’t Ricochet appear at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024?

According to the latest reports from Fightful Select behind a paywall, Ricochet’s current WWE contract expired on July 1. Since AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door took place on June 30, he was contractually unable to appear on the show.

Despite Ricochet’s absence from the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, reports suggest he’ll be joining AEW soon. However, those reports also indicate that his anticipated match with Will Ospreay at All In won’t happen.

After the latest edition of AEW Dynamite, it appears AEW has a different plan for Will Ospreay. Instead of facing Ricochet, Ospreay will be feuding with the former AEW World Champion, MJF. This turn of events unfolded after Ospreay successfully defended his International Championship against Daniel Garcia. Following the match, MJF, who had been supporting Garcia in the lead-up to the bout, brutally attacked him. This unexpected betrayal from “Salt of the Earth” left the fans stunned.
