FKA Twigs made a special appearance at a charity concert in London in support of relief efforts in Gaza and Sudan. The singer took the stage at the Troxy to perform her song “Cellophane,” which she released in 2019.

The concert was organized by Mustafa as part of collective Artists For Aid, with the proceeds benefiting War Child UK’s response plan in Gaza and Sudan, which focuses on food, water and hygiene-based aid. Other performers included Bint Mbareh, Daniel Caesar, Earl Sweatshirt, Nicolás Jaar, and Yasiin Bey. Clairo joined Mustafa in a duet, while comedian Ramy Youssef also made an appearance.

FKA Twigs released “Cellophane” in 2019, marking her first new solo effort since 2016’s “Good to Love.” It was accompanied by a trippy and emotional video directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, known for his collaborations with Björk.

The singer wrote on Twitter: “when I wrote cellophane over a year ago a visual narrative came to me immediately, I knew I had to learn how to pole-dance to bring it to life, and so that’s what I did. thank you @Andrew_T_Huang, for elevating my vision beyond words. you are a visionary.”

In March, Twigs made a welcome return to music with Two Shell on single “Talk to Me.” Earlier this year, she began teasing her forthcoming album on Discord. The project was inspired primarily by the move she made to Prague a few summers ago, where she “fell in love with techno.” The musician clarified that “the album isn’t techno but the spirit is there,” adding: “It’s deep but not sad… I’m not sad anymore.”

While in album mode, Twigs hasn’t been keeping up with much of the new music landscape, but mentioned that she’s recently found herself drawn to Two Shell. Their collaboration is a leap forward for Twigs, who began crafting her next era from scratch after dozens of her demos were leaked by a hacker last October. “I got hacked, somebody leaked 85 of my demos,” she wrote on Instagram Stories at the time. “Well done, no new music for a while now.”
