Arne Slot confirms transfer plan at Liverpool and responds to Jurgen Klopp question

New Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed he will have a say on transfer dealings alongside new sporting director Richard Hughes , and that he is completely comfortable with how that side of things will work behind the scenes.

"For me, it is not a change," Slot said during his first press conference . "In Europe, we work like this. I worked at my former clubs like this. There are not clubs in the world where one person does everything. There are not sporting directors that bring players in the manager doesn't like.

"At a club like this, there are many more people that can bring their opinion. That is the way I work and that is how I like to work."

"It's not that we're going to change everything because things are going well but we have to improve," Slot explained when asked about the job he faces. "I had a lot of time to look where we can improve. Starting to work with the players will give a better insight."

Slot is not concerned by the task ahead of him in terms of replacing Jurgen Klopp , either. Instead, he sees the chance to take over from the German as a major opportunity given the players that he will have to work with.

"You can look at it both ways," Slot said. "There are big shoes to fill but you also inherit a team that has a winning culture. One of the reasons for coming here is I feel we have a really good squad.

"As a manager, you want to work at a club where there are good players and an opportunity to win something. I like to work with players and develop them, but I like to win as well. There is an opportunity with this club to win."

Liverpool.com says: The transfer aspect was always going to be something that Slot was asked about given the change from how things have worked in the past. But it will not be a problem: as he said himself, he has worked in that model before.
