    Upcoming Korean Movies & Their 2024 Release Dates

    The South Korean entertainment industry is popular for producing projects in multiple genres. In the first half of 2024, films like Exhuma, Wonderland, Hijack 1971, and My Name Is Low Kiwan witnessed acclaim and commercial success. For the fans of K-cinema, here’s a list of the upcoming Korean movies 2024. It includes Project Silence, Pilot, Revolver, and Victory.

    For the unversed, Kim Go-Eun’s Exhuma is a horror suspense film that won numerous accolades. Meanwhile, Park Bo-Gum’s Wonderland and Song Joong-Ki’s My Name Is Low Kiwan also received positive responses. Hijack 1971 performed well at the box office.

    Will the Korean movies premiering in the second half of 2024 similarly impress fans? Only time will tell. In the meantime, let’s look at the upcoming films and their release date.

    Project Silence

    Project Silence is a thriller starring the late Lee Sun-Kyun, Ju Ji-Hoon, and Kim Hee-Won. It tells the story of survivors trapped on a collapsing bridge. Due to a dense fog, cars have crashed and piled up on top of each other. Amid the silent cries, the survivors encounter a mysterious beast. Distributed by CJ ENM, the movie’s director is Kim Tae-Gon.

    Project Silence first premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2023. Now, the movie will be released on July 12, 2024.

    Pilot

    Pilot is an upcoming Korean movie starring Jo Jung-Suk playing the lead role. It tells the story of Han Jung-Woo, a successful pilot with a perfect lifestyle. However, One day, his life turns upside down after a mistake makes him lose his job. Things don’t look good for him as he goes through a divorce and a series of setbacks in order to find a new job. Eventually but dramatically, the stars align for him after he changes his identity to his sister, Han Jung-Mi. Disguised as a woman, Jung-Woo faces different kinds of challenges but is determined to reclaim his life.

    Releasing on July 31, 2024, the film also stars Han Sun-Hwa, Shin Seung-Ho, and Lee Joo-Myung.

    Revolver

    Revolver is an upcoming Korean action-crime thriller, in which Ji Chang-Wook will play the role of an antagonist for the first time. The storyline revolves around a former detective, Ha Soo-Young (Jean Do-Yeon), who is serving a sentence in prison for someone else’s crimes. Andy (Chang-Wook) has promised her a huge amount for taking the blame but soon she realizes it’s all an act. When she is released from jail, a mysterious woman named Yoon-Sun (Im Ji-Yeon) comes to pick her up. Will she help Soo-Young fight Andy?

    The movie, directed by Oh Seung-Uk, will hit the theaters on August 7, 2024.

    Victory

    Victory is a teen movie about two cheerleaders, Pil Sun (Lee Hye-Ri) and Mi Na (Park Se-Wan). In the small village of Geoge in South Korea, the two best friends dream of having a cheerleading team. They join their school’s club, Millennium Girls, where they meet a transfer student named Se Hyun (Jo Aram). The trio shows their passion in the club while dealing with personal struggles of being a teenager in a small place. Will their dreams come true?

    The film is slate to be released on August 12, 2024. Directed by Single in Seoul fame Park Beom-Soo, the movie also stars Lee Jung-Ha as Chi Hyeong.

    Aside from the aforementioned movies, the third and fourth quarters of 2024 will also witness interesting projects. Here is the list of upcoming Korean movies 2024 whose release dates are yet to be announced.

    • Because I Hate Korea: Joo Jong-Hyuk, Go Ah-Sung
    • Mission Cross: Hwang Jung-Min, Yum Jung-Ah
    • Seeking the King: Koo Kyo-Hwan, Yoo Jae-Myung
    • Uprising: Gang Dong-Won
    • Officer Black Belt: Kim Woo-Bin
    • The Great Flood: Kim Da-Mi, Park Hae-Soo

    Meanwhile, enjoy the latest movie, Escape, in theaters. It was released on July 3, 2024 and stars Lee Je-Hoon and Koo Kyo-Hwan in lead roles.
