(WKBN) — U.S. Route 224’s bridge replacement completion date has been delayed.

The bridge over the Ohio Turnpike in Mahoning County was set to be completed on June 21.

The Ohio Turnpike commission gave the following statement to explain the delay:

The Commission has not been able to solidify a commitment from utilities to relocate their
facilities within the project area in a prompt and timely manner. Therefore, entering into a
contract with unknown schedule impacts would more than likely result in extensive delays and
project costs. Once a confirmed completion date for the utility relocation is known, the project
will be re-advertised. Notifications will be sent to all plan holders on file and a re-advertisement
of the project will occur at a later date to be determined. The Commission apologizes for any
inconveniences that may have occurred during this process.

No new completion date has been given.
