Trump Cannot Resist Attacking ‘Meanest and Most Vicious’ George Stephanopoulos Ahead Of Pivotal Biden Interview:

While the Democrats are literally in disarray over how best to handle the sudden political crisis born from President Joe Biden’s debate debacle a week ago, former President Donald Trump could not resist making a series of insults towards his political rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, and, of course, ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos was ostensibly chosen by the White House to be Biden’s first interviewer after serious questions arose about what many saw as an apparent cognitive decline, evidenced by a number of people losing their train of thought during the first presidential debate a week ago. His appearance was so bad that it elicited several calls for him to drop out, from insightful thought leaders to large newspaper editorial boards.

In the days that followed the debate, Trump appeared to show uncharacteristic restraint and discipline by not posting insults on social media, effectively letting the negative Biden news cycle grow. However, that changed on July 4th, when Trump attacked Biden and Stephanopoulos. Trump wrote on Truth Social:

The meanest and most vicious Interviewer out there is George Slopadopoulos of FAKE NEWS ABC, one of the worst and most vile Broadcasters in the business — In fact, the home of disgraced “reporter” Brian Ross whose reporting on the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax was so outlandish that ABC, after defending him at levels not seen before, was forced to put him, and their reputation, out to pasture. Now ABC, and Liddle’ George, a tiny, angry man, can make up for their past indiscretions and journalistic failures by doing a real interview with Crooked Joe, not a cut up promotion with only his few coherent answers released to the public. Let the World know why Joe directed, and allowed his Department of Injustice, and others, to illegally attack his Political Opponent, ME. Nothing like this has ever happened in our Country before. Also, ask why he used all Soros Prosecutors and, in particular, a loser like Deranged Jack Smith? The proof is irrefutable – Crooked Joe is a COWARD!!! MAGA2024

As anchor of ABC Sunday show This Week, Stephanopoulos has been unwavering in grilling Trump surrogates and warning of the degradation of the “bedrock tenants” of American democracy brought about by a second Trump administration. He is also a former campaign and White House aide to President Bill Clinton, which is regularly the most cited part of his resume by conservative critics insisting that he is biased. The truth is that Stephanopoulos enjoys a well-earned reputation for being a tough and fair journalist.

The crucial interview is set to be taped Friday, and Mediaite understands from a source familiar with the production that it plans to be a “live to tape” interview with no editing. The first portions of the interview will likely emerge later Friday afternoon, with the full interview airing Sunday morning.
