Former NBA Champion Threatens Ryan Garcia Over George Floyd Comments

Boxing star Ryan Garcia found himself in some hot water on Thursday for making discriminatory comments during a social media live stream session. Former NBA player Stephen Jackson made sure to turn up the temperature a few degrees further.

Garcia was expelled by the World Boxing Council after the 25-year-old went on a deranged rant on an audio stream via X. Garcia insulted Muslims and made some racially charged comments about the Black community.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman announced the punishment Thursday on X.

During his tirade, Garcia specifically singled out George Floyd, whose death in 2020 sparked mass outrage during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. When someone in the group audio chat brought up Floyd, Garcia mentioned how he wished Floyd could be brought back to life so he could be killed again.

Jackson didn't take the comments lightly. The 14-year NBA veteran threatened Garcia on X by daring him to repeat his comments to members of the Third Ward in Texas, where Floyd was from.

"Somebody tell Ryan Garcia pull up to 3rd Ward Texas and say that sh-- again about G Floyd and see what happen. When people bring up the dead it shows who’s really dying inside. Free Game. It’s a diff set of rules outside the ring kid. Get some help before it’s too late," Jackson wrote on X.

It's not the first time Jackson has called out Garcia.

The 2003 NBA champion was critical of Garcia and his supporters last month when the boxer tested positive for a banned substance after his fight against Devin Haney. Garcia received a one-year suspension for the positive test.
