JT Money Enters A New Phase Of His Career With New Album 'Immortal'

JT Money is more rejuvenated than ever before. The seasoned Miami rapper is moving at the pace of a young MC who just blew up, and making fresh hits that will keep him on the "Miami Mount Rushmore" for years to come.

The 51-year-old artist returns today, July 4, with his sixth solo album Immortal via Undeniable Music Group. The 15-track LP is the result of the veteran artist's three-year journey that took his music in a brand-new direction. In the process, JT achieved dream collaborations that were nearly 30 years in the making like Poison Clan's new song "Give It To Me" and "What This Pimp Bout" featuring 8Ball & MJG and TheTAYkeover.

"I was nervous, but I'm proud," JT Money says about releasing the project. "I'm happy now. I done got a little feedback, so I just hope the streets enjoy it and put it next to one of the ones they love."

JT Money opened up about the album during an intimate listening session at Rebel 11 Studios in Miami just days before the album dropped. The project, co-produced by his manager Jemael "Breeze" Bazile, begins with a gritty intro narrated by journalist Peter Bailey, who helps establish the album's theme.

"For me, this was an ode to the city," Bailey says about the intro. "This is an ode to the fallen people who never got their flowers, to let the world know, 'Yo, we did this.' Everything y'all dancing to, the trends, the lingo, we did that. JT did that."

JT's main goal for the album is to help bridge the gap between the old school and the new generation of Hip-Hop artists with songs like "Been There, Done That" produced by Nixon On The Track & The Pyrvmids, and "Best Is Yet To Come" with CeeLo Green . One song he's particularly proud of is "What This Pimp Bout" featuring 8Ball & MJG and TheTAYkeover. The collaboration finally came together after he spent decades trying to make it happen.

"We've been trying to collab for 30 years," JT explains. "We just finally got our record after 30 years. But the funny thing is, I woke up on my birthday and it was in my email. I look at that record as a birthday present."

The "Who Dat" rapper remains loyal to his iconic, Miami-bass roots with songs like "Big Gulp" and "A$$ Back." He stays trickin' on wax with his first collaboration with Trap Beckham, "On Your Best Friends." He also revisits his classic "Ho Problems" by giving the record more life on "Mo Problems." His dynasty continues to reign supreme alongside other Miami legends Trick Daddy and Rick Ross on the album's lead single "Miami Mount Rushmore," which dropped last year.

Midway through the project, JT Money reunites with his Poison Clan brethren on "Give It To Me" with King Foe. It's a true Miami-inspired record that young and elder Hip-Hop heads can rock with. "Give It To Me" is the first time Poison Clan has reunited on wax since their 1995 album, Strait Zooism . Their new song is a glimpse at what fans can expect from Poison Clan's upcoming album — their first project in 30 years. In JT's eyes, the group has never technically split up.

"We never split and broke up," JT says. "I just finally got them n***as to work. We was never mad at each other. We always together."

While he stands on business throughout most of the album, JT Money also lets his "Unc" persona take over. He offers his expertise about coming up in the rap game to rising artists on "Happy Father's Day" and "Young N***az" featuring King Foe. He also flexes his role as a producer — known as "Ugly Beats by Jay" — on the album's closing track "Bad Muthaf**ka." The song is one of many he has in store for his next project, which will help ring in a new era of his legendary career.

"The reason I put ["Bad Muthaf**ka"] on the album is because I got a whole project of just that, but I can't just say 'JT Money,' it's gotta be 'JT Money presents Unc & 'Em' because if I just call it 'Unc,' it's like a new name," JT explains. "But ["Bad Muthaf**ka"] was the first one we chose... We're creating a whole new genre of music for the n***as 50 plus."

JT Money's upcoming "Unc" project will arrive sometime after Poison Clan's new album. In the meantime, he's got plenty of music videos on the way for his first new project in nearly a decade, including one with Ceelo Green. He's been booked for numerous shows and is currently cooking up plans for a tour. With everything he's got on his schedule in 2024, JT Money is doing everything possible to remain immortal and this album proves it.
