Cool northwest winds on this Friday are bringing a drop in temperature for Central Iowa. Highs will only be in the mid to upper 70s today and winds brisk out of the northwest gusting to 25 mph.

Low pressure is spinning over Minnesota and Wisconsin and will wrap in more clouds and a few spotty showers across Iowa today. The best likelihood of showers will be in the northwest corner of the state through the afternoon.

The weekend warms back up to the low 80s but this is still below the normal high of 85-86 degrees for early July.

Depending on where the heaviest rain sets up overnight Saturday to Sunday morning, some isolated areas may get an inch or so of rain.
