    Tornado confirmed Thursday in Logan County: NWS

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A tornado occurred on the Fourth of July in Logan County.

    According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, an EF0 tornado occurred Thursday, July 4 at 8:44 p.m. for roughly 10 seconds. The tornado is believed to have traveled 0.17 miles and occurred southeast of De Graff.

    Citing video, NWS reports tree damage and displacement of patio furniture occurred at homes on County Road 31 South .

    “The video shows the tornado rapidly dissipating after its initial development. Damage is consistent with winds around 65 mph,” said NWS.

    The tornado is the 64th in Ohio to be confirmed by NWS, extending 2024’s record for the most confirmed tornadoes in a year .

    The previous record of 62 was set in 1992. Ohio passed that this year when the 63rd — an EF-0 — briefly hit Huron County on June 29.
