Sabrina Carpenter is having a year and Good Morning America agrees .
In the Pop News segment on GMA , Sam Champion gave the pop news of the day joined by Gio Benitez, Rebecca Jarvis and Whit Johnson. Sam introduced the Sabrina portion of the news by saying "my spirit animal Sabrina Carpenter is really having a moment and it's just not me saying it, everyone else is too." There was a banner saying "Summer of Sabrina" beneath Sam.
He elaborated by talking about how Sabrina's top two hits this summer Espresso and Please, Please, Please have been dominating the billboard and streaming charts. And recently they both have been "dethroning each other" for the top spot on the Global Spotify chart.

The meteorologist offered his opinion and declared Espresso the song of the Summer, saying "it's time," while Rebecca and Whit supported his statement. Then Sam transitioned to Sabrina's Instagram post on July 4, in which she thanked fans for selling out the Short N' Sweet Tour and Espresso going number one on a pop radio.
The post had a carousel of photos of Sabrina, her Tour poster, her Van Leeuwen ice cream, the pop chart, and Ice Spice talking about Espresso. It was captioned: "and just like that you guys sold out the entire short n’ sweet tour, espresso went #1 at pop radio andddddd i slid down this slide :’) thank you all so so much!!! i can’t wait to see you on the road." Sam mentioned that "someone special" decided to congratulate the 25-year-old singer in her comments and it was Taylor Swift.
Taylor commented with a halo smiling emoji: "SUMMER OF SABRINA AND MAY IT CONTINUE FOREVER." Sam informed the viewers Sabrina opened for Taylor in a portion of her Eras Tour and complimented Taylor for "supporting women artists as she always does." By the end of the section, Sam asserted with a fun pun at the end that: "Taylor has declared it, it’s the summer of Sabrina Carpenter and now we need to please, please, please observe it."

Sabrina's Short N' Sweet Tour is kicking off on September 23 this year at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, and is set to end November 18 at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. The tour is named after and is in support of her forthcoming album of the same. Short N' Sweet is her sixth studio album and is scheduled to be released on August 23, 2024. Her recent hits Espresso and Please Please Please are apart of the upcoming album and they have been dominating the charts lately.
Both songs have led to the former Disney star setting records. Sabrina had her first number one hit with Please Please Please on the Billboard Hot 100 in late June. She also hit another music milestone by becoming the first artist since The Beatles to have two songs within the top three spots on Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, per NPR . Lastly, she is the first musician to top the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. simultaneously with different songs and no billed collaborators, according to Billboard .
