Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán informed NATO ahead of his planned visit to Russia, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.

"Hungary informed us about this upcoming visit," Stoltenberg said in his press conference ahead of a NATO leaders' summit in Washington next week.

The NATO chief said he expects allies in Washington to discuss Orbán's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and "address the discussions he had in Moscow."

"Of course, Viktor Orbán is not representing NATO at these meetings. He's representing his own country," Stoltenberg stressed.
