Ys X: Nordics Finally Gets a Worldwide Release Date

NIS America has announced Ys X: Nordics , the latest chapter in the long-running RPG franchise from Nihon Falcom, will launch worldwide on October 25 for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The release date was announced during an Ys X panel NIS America held at Anime Expo with Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo, where it also shared a new trailer for the game. The trailer does some brief setup for the game before showing off a wealth of sleek action combat, the Ys series’ trademark.

Ys X: Nordics follows two heroes, longtime protagonist Adol Christin and a new character named Karja Balta. This time around, the story takes place in Obelia Bay, a region filled with a wealth of tropical islands. The duo goes up against immortal beings called Griegr, who are ravaging the islands and leaving destruction in their wake.

Ys X: Nordics was originally released in Japan in September 2023, and like most recent Falcom games , is being published by NIS America in the West. It’s clear that NIS is trying to shorten the gap between Japanese and worldwide releases, as Ys IX: Monstrum Nox took roughly two years to make its way out of Japan.

While Ys X: Nordics is, of course, the tenth entry in the series, chronologically it actually takes place earlier than most of the other Ys games, featuring a 17-year-old Adol. The events of Nordics take place between Ys I & II and Ys: Memories of Celceta .

A Limited Edition of the game was also announced, which will retail for $104.99 and can be purchased through NIS America’s official store . In addition to the game, you’ll get a hardcover artbook, soundtrack, pin, art cards, and sling bag.

In other Ys news, this week, XSEED announced that Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana , a remastered and enhanced version of the original, will be released in Early 2025 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.
