Maitland Ward was well looked after during her time on The Bold and the Beautiful as her co-stars were worried she was "gonna go wild" with the fame.

The actress was just 16 years old when she started the audition process for the show and made her debut as Jessica Forrester when she was 17. Maitland was cast on the show after taking a workshop with a casting director.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, she joked: "I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm gonna see all these soap guys in there and I'm gonna be with all the hot guys that are on the show' and it was all people in their 30s and 40s and me at 16 years old but I got noticed because of that, because I was different from the rest of the class."

Maitland heaped praise on her co-stars for looking after her during her time on the show. She told us: "The cast was amazing, they really took care of me.

"Coming in you hear horror stories in Hollywood and of course you hear all the horror stories coming up about like Quiet On Set, but I have to say for The Bold and the Beautiful, there was none of that going on." She added: "They were all worried I was gonna go wild so they all like very much kept hold on me that way."

The actress continued: "Also I think it's because there wasn't a lot of Kids on the show, I was the only one except for like babies of people." Maitland had been a fan of The Bold and the Beautiful before appearing on the show.

She explained: "It was a whirlwind there because first of all I was a soap fan. I was definitely a soap fan from my preteen years. I watched Days of Our Lives, I had watched the first episode of The Bold and the Beautiful when it came out when I was a kid so it was fun."

Maitland said she had to "reinvent" herself after leaving The Bold and the Beautiful. She explained: "I was a young woman and I wanted to see who I wanted to be in life and after the show."

After leaving the soap, she landed a leading role on Boy Meets World as Rachel McGuire. Explaining how she got the role, Maitland said: "I got on Boy Meets World by such happenstance because I was auditioning for a pilot that Michael Jacobs and his production team were producing and I tested on that with Selma Blair.

"I didn't get it, but Michael was like, 'We love her I want to have her on a holding deal for Boy Meets World, she's gonna be the roommate of Jack and Eric'. So that was an amazing time to, too be landed into a show that was already so popular and so established."
