    NYS Thruway Authority again warning people of E-ZPass scam

    WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – The New York State Thruway Authority is again warning the public about scams involving E-ZPass.

    In a post on the Thruway Authority’s Facebook page, the group reminded the public about scam texts that people have been getting.

    “E-ZPass or Tolls By Mail will never send an email or contact you requesting sensitive personal information such as credit card number, social security, user names, passwords, etc. If you are contacted by anyone stating that they are from E-ZPass or Tolls By Mail and they are seeking personal information, please DO NOT provide the information requested,” said the Thruway Authority in the social media post earlier in the week.

    If anyone needs assistance, they can call E-ZPass at 1-800-333-8655/ https://www.e-zpassny.com/en/other/phish.shtml or Tolls By Mail at 1-844-826-8400/ https://www.tollsbymailny.com/en/other/phishing.shtml .

    People can also file a report with the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center by going to https://bit.ly/3XDZZGw .
