    Relief options for VA debt are available due to natural disaster

    Tornadoes, wildfires, and hurricanes can be incredibly disruptive events. The Department of Veterans Affairs has resources available to ensure natural disasters do not make the already challenging situation of owing a VA debt worse. If you are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to repay your VA debt because of a natural disaster, relief options are available.

    For suspension of benefit debt, veterans and beneficiaries can contact the VA Debt Management Center via Ask VA . Select Veterans Affairs-Debt as the category or call 800-827-0648.

    For suspension of medical care and pharmacy copayment debt, veterans and beneficiaries can contact the Health Resource Center by calling 866-400-1238.

    Veterans can visit here to learn more about other debt relief options such as waivers and repayment plans.
