Salma Hayek’s tribute to Tom Cruise on his 62nd birthday took some fans who are unaware of their decades-long friendship by surprise, especially considering Hayek’s close bond with Cruise’s ex Penélope Cruz . But it turns out, Cruz might not be all that bothered by Hayek and Cruise’s relationship.

On July 3, Hayek posted a photo of her and the Top Gun star on her Instagram story with the caption: “Happy birthday dear @tomcruise 🥳🥳🥳.” The two were also recently photographed together at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in London in June.

Hayek and Cruise have maintained a friendship since first working together on the 2006 film Ask the Dust — Cruise produced the film which stars Hayek, Colin Farrell, Donald Sutherland and Idina Menzel. They worked together shortly after Cruise split from Hayek’s longtime best friend . Cruz and Cruise famously dated from 2001 until 2004.

However, while one might think Cruise and Cruz’s breakup could have made things awkward for Hayek, it seems the exes are totally on good terms and the group have even hung out all together.

The trio made headlines in 2015 when they were photographed leaving a restaurant in London, where they reportedly dined together. Cruise was even seen sporting a red lipstick mark on his cheek — the same scarlet color Cruz and Hayek were wearing.

Despite Cruise and Cruz’s highly publicized breakup, which some sources claim happened after the actress caught him on the phone with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, the former couple didn’t end thing acrimoniously.

Cruz, who has been married to Javier Bardem since 2010, even praised her former boyfriend in a 2006 interview with The Guardian. She told the outlet : “Tom is a very good man, and I am close to his whole family, his children. I love his children, and his mum, and all of his family, and he’s a great man. The people who have been good to me, they are untouchable. I am very loyal to the people who have meant something to me and have been good to me, very, very loyal.”
