    Topline:

A mountain lion was found dead Thursday along the center divider on the northbound 405 Freeway near the Getty Museum. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Erik Larsen, the cat was reportedly struck by a vehicle.

What we know so far: The animal was found at 2:30 p.m., however, as of 5:20 p.m. the body was still on the freeway, with Larsen confirming that a Caltrans supervisor was on the way to pick up the body.

Why it matters: This is the second mountain lion found dead on a Southern California freeway in less than a month. Another mountain lion was struck by a vehicle on the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills, less than a mile from the site of the upcoming Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing.
