Spain have confirmed Pedri will miss the rest of Euro 2024 with a knee injury that he picked up just eight minutes into their quarter-final clash with Germany.

Wonderkid midfielder Pedri was replaced by Dani Olmo after in the opening 10 minutes of the game following a heavy collision with Toni Kroos .

The Real Madrid midfielder went straight through the Barcelona man with a challenge, which despite winning the ball, was heavy enough for referee Anthony Taylor to award a free-kick.

Pedri stayed on the floor and needed medical attention before being helped back onto his feet and hoped to continue.

However, just four minutes after the challenge, the Spain manager decided to take Pedri off, which saw the youngster leave the pitch in tears - with the Spanish FA confirming in the second half that the midfielder has suffered an lateral sprain to his left knee.

The midfielder will now undergo tests to see the extent of his injury.

Pedri suffered with injuries over the recent domestic season with Barcelona, as a hamstring issue limited him to just 24 LaLiga appearances.

This time, the Spaniard appeared to land heavily on his shoulder, but it was his knee that he was seen holding onto in some discomfort as he was treated on the field.

He looked distraught as he came off the pitch, putting his head in both of his hands to cover his face.

Pedri had started three of Spain's four games before their clash with Germany, only being left as an used substitute in their victory over Albania - as they had already qualified for the knockout phase going into their final group stage game.

Spain went into the tournament without his Barcelona team-mate Gavi, who has been out since November after suffering a cruciate ligament tear.
