I left my entire cart at Winn Dixie after grocery bill came to $108 – I scanned everything but Walmart is $50 less

A WINN Dixie shopper was dumbfounded over just how expensive her grocery bill came out to be, forcing her to ditch her cart.
She claimed her $108 bill would be about half the price had she shopped at rival Walmart.
Winn Dixie shopper Christy McTyre shared the shocking price discrepancy in a Facebookpost from last month.
"PSA, if you are shopping at Winn Dixie, you must have a healthy stash in that bank account," began the customer.
"I was blown away with my total this morning and walked right on out after I scanned my items... left the groceries and all... I will beg for food on the corner before I ever let Winn Dixie have my money..."
McTyre explained how she does 90% of her shopping at Walmart but occasionally stops by Winn Dixie to pick up groceries.
That morning her Winn Dixie total came out to $108, which she claimed would have been much less had she shopped at Walmart.
She estimated the bill would have been around $60 at Walmart - a $48 difference for the same items.
"HOWWWW... I could have shopped at Publix cheaper than that!! I could have gone to Walmart and out to dinner with that..." McTyre fumed.
"Seriously who is shopping here? Am I trippin here? Who shops here?"
PRICE WARS
With inflation taking a hit to consumer's wallets, price discrepancies can really add up.
Many people agreed with McTyre, sharing their own experiences and frustrations with Winn Dixie.
One customer called the grocer's prices "in-friggin-sane," while others called it "overpriced" or said they hated it.
Many blamed Aldi for raising prices when it bought out Winn Dixie.
A majority of customers said they spent their dollars elsewhere, including at Walmart, Aldi, Publix, and Sam's Club.
Those who still shopped at Winn Dixie shared that there was a key strategy to saving money there.
Inflation of grocery prices
Although inflation remained unchanged from April to May this year, the cost of certain grocery products is rising.
Food prices rose 2.1% over the past year and certain categories are being affected more than others.
For example, cereal and bakery products cost 0.7% more than they did last year.
Meat, eggs, poultry, and fish cost 2.4% more than in May 2023.
Additionally, fruits, vegetables, and beverages are priced higher.
"I save so much using their app and clipping coupons," commented one shopper, noting how their grocery bills would drop by as much as half.
"Yesterday, I watched my total go from over $120 down to $59."
Others shared how they would only shop at Winn Dixie for select items or when a product was on sale.
"They are EXPENSIVE now!! I only go there when the ice cream is on sale..." commented one shopper.
"We only use Winn Dixie for their soda... I can't tell you the last time I went there," said another.
In related news, a Winn Dixie location is set to close down in days with sales up to 50% off.
