One heck of a record. Last night, Morgan Wallen
headlined London's BST Hyde Park, which marked a massive moment in his career as he broke the record for the largest country concert ever held in the U.K with over 50,000 fans in attendance. For a little context, Hyde park is the largest of the parks and green spaces that form a chain from Kensington Palace through Kensington Gardens. Artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam and more have all headlined shows there, and it's an iconic outdoor venue in London. In addition to playing hits like "Whiskey Glasses," "I Had Some Help" and more, Morgan also played his just-released song "Lies Lies Lies," which he recorded at London’s iconic Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios in December, when he was there to play The O2 arena last year. Obviously, I don't think that there's any arguing that Morgan is the biggest thing in country music right now, and that goes for not only the United States, but clearly rings true for fans all over the world. Considering how many truly iconic acts have played Hyde park, he's in special, elite company with that kind of a record. And in terms of his new song, Morgan previously debuted  "Lies Lies Lies" as part of his live Abbey Road Sessions, which were recorded in London in Studio Two of the iconic Abbey Road Studios and posted on his Youtube in March. Like pretty much everything he teases, fans were immediately begging Morgan to release the song, which was written by Jessie Jo Dillon, Josh Miller, Daniel Ross and Chris Tompkins. It finds Morgan trying to convince himself that he’s moved on from a past love before admitting that it was all just the “90 proof telling me lies, lies lies,” as he begs the girl to stay telling her there’s “nothing I wouldn’t do for you.” Thematically, it’s right in his wheelhouse of getting over heartbreak, or wanting to find love again, and the production is very similar to the live session which I’m sure fans will certainly appreciate because it sounds almost exactly the same to the version they’ve already heard and love. Morgan has
said recently that he’s been in the studio working on new music, so it’s likely that “Lies Lies Lies” will eventually make it onto whatever tracklist he’s putting together for his (unofficially announced) next project. He is currently in the  middle of his headlining One Night At A Time stadium tour, which will head back to the United States for a run before he returns overseas at the end of August to Stockholm, Sweden to kick-off his first-ever European tour. The seven show run will include additional stops in Copenhagen, Denmark; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Glasgow, U.K. and more before concluding with two back-to-back nights in Dublin, Ireland.
