She said although the bins are emptied frequently, the county hasn't been able to keep up with the surge in use over the Fourth of July holiday. The result is <a href="https://www.recordpatriot.com/news/article/recycling-bin-relocation-discussed-frankfort-19420721.php" rel="nofollow"> full bins and frustrated people </a> dumping recyclables on and around the bins. On June 30, the Frankfort Police Department had to block off access to the recycling bins. Zeits said the bins were emptied on July 1, but already full by noon on July 2. "We're aware of the issue," Zeits said. "The Frankfort bins are emptied three days each week, and we're working on a fourth pick-up day." Zeits said the problem is compounded by residents and visitors using the recycling bins to dump nonrecyclable household trash and businesses using the bins for commercial recycling, which she said is illegal. "The sites are monitored," she said. "We have site attendants that check on the bins one or two times daily in the summer." The Frankfort site also is monitored by cameras. "We're also looking to upgrade the cameras," Zeits said. In the meantime, she said if the bins are full, people should not dump recycling on or around them. "Be good stewards and come back another day," she said. "Please be courteous — these bins are or for recycling, not garbage." </div></body>
