"It depends on whether we win or lose" - Austin Reaves on what happens on the flight after a game

NBA players endure a tough 82-game schedule spread over six months. In between games, they take a ton of plane and bus rides, which can be taxing on their bodies.

Incoming four-year man Austin Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers has been in the league long enough to understand his teammates' moods. When they win, the plane rides go smoothly, but it's a different story when they lose.

    The Lakers' plane rides

In an interview with Hoops Hype , the Lakers guard shared what goes on inside the Purple and Gold airplane right after a game.

"It depends on whether we win or lose. If we win, everybody's happy, and you usually gamble a little bit and listen to music. If we lose, it's a little more serious, and a lot of communication to try to get better," AR shared.

It's easy to imagine LeBron James breaking down plays from memory and explaining what should've happened. The man from Akron, Ohio, is a basketball savant, and having him on any team is a luxury.

However, Reaves and the Lakers aren't just there to learn a thing or two about basketball. The Purple and Gold fan base trusts them to win as many games as possible– so those long plane rides after a loss are taken seriously.

"I think 95 percent of our lives are basketball, even if it's not playing or being in the gym," Reaves added. "You constantly talk about it. That's what the flights are. If you're going to a game, you're talking about what you can do in the game to be successful. If it's after a game and we lost, it's what we could've done."

    LeBron the man child

But being LBJ's teammate isn't all that stressful. Yes, the man has a quest to win as many NBA championships as possible, but according to Reaves, the all-time scoring leader is a kid at heart .

"He honestly seems about 18. He acts like he's 18. He's very childish, in a great way. Seeing him play for as long as he's played, some days I sit back and think about how crazy it is, how long he has been doing this, but how youthful he is at the same time," Austin said .

This may be the secret to LeBron's longevity. He takes the game seriously but doesn't have the same mindset off the court. At the end of the day, he's playing the sport he loves the most, and this is all that matters.
