Passenger shot at, killed on Nottoway roadway, state police looking for suspect

NOTTOWAY COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A woman is dead after police say someone in another vehicle shot into the car she was riding in early Friday morning.

At about 1:40 a.m. on Friday, July 5, a Kia sedan was moving west on Route 460 in Nottoway County when someone in another car shot at the Kia. According to Virginia State Police, the suspect vehicle drove away soon after.

The unidentified driver of the Kia was not injured, but their passenger was shot. According to state police, the unidentified woman was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

Virginia State Police is following various leads at this time and said this is believed to be an isolated incident.
