Fried chicken , a beloved dish among Americans, is being celebrated with its own day – National Fried Chicken Day, which falls on Saturday, July 6.

According to YouGov's regularly updated list of The Most Popular American Dishes, only a few foods are more popular than fried chicken in the U.S., including hamburgers, french fries, and grilled cheese sandwiches, reports USA Today.

Fried chicken boasts an impressive 83% popularity among Americans, tying with cheeseburgers and trailing slightly behind hamburgers (at 85%) and french fries and grilled cheese (at 84% each).

The origins of National Fried Chicken Day remain unknown, as per the National Day Calendar site, and no explanation is provided on the National Today site either.

However, if you're looking to join in the celebration of this manufactured holiday on Saturday, numerous fast-food joints and restaurants are offering deals and specials to entice you.

Burger King is offering free sandwiches on National Fried Chicken Day

On National Fried Chicken Day, Burger King is treating its customers to a free sandwich. On Saturday, July 6, members of the Royal Perks loyalty program can get their hands on a complimentary Royal Crispy Chicken sandwich with any purchase of $5 or more.

KFC boasts gear, plus deals on chicken nuggets and sandwiches

For those who associate National Fried Chicken Day with KFC, the fast-food chain has some new merchandise in store for you.

In collaboration with pop culture-themed merchandise site BoxLunch, KFC has launched a new collection.

It includes a KFC bucket crossbody bag priced at $79.90, a windbreaker currently discounted by 20% at $51.92, a reversible chicken bucket hat also reduced by 20% at $23.12, and a fanny pack for $44.90.

Moreover, if you're craving KFC on National Fried Chicken Day, there are several deals up for grabs.

These include 50% off chicken sandwiches (this excludes the Chicken Little Sandwich; you must redeem the offer by clicking the appropriate banner before checkout).

Popeyes is offering a deal on their Boneless Wings

Members of the Popeyes Rewards loyalty program can now enjoy a free 6-piece order of boneless wings with a $10 purchase until July 14. This offer is only valid on Popeyes.com or the Popeyes App and can also be claimed through Popeyes delivery.

The fast-food chain introduced boneless wings to their permanent menu on June 25. The flavors range from Classic, Honey Lemon Pepper, Signature Hot, Honey BBQ, Sweet 'N Spicy, to Roasted Garlic Parmesan.

In an interesting move, the chain disclosed that it has been using bots on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, to distribute thousands of codes to those who expressed dissatisfaction with boneless wings after the dish was added to its menu. These codes can be redeemed on Saturday, July 6, for a free 6-piece order of Boneless Wings with any purchase made on the Popeyes website or app.
