LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A person died on Wednesday after being pulled out of Wampler’s Lake by Jackson County deputies responding to a possible drowning call on Wednesday.

Officials say they received a call at 1 p.m. on Wednesday about someone floating face down in Wampler’s Lake near the shore.

Deputies arrived within 2 minutes, entered the water, and pulled what they call an “elderly subject” to shore with help from neighbors and rescue.

Jackson Community Ambulance responders provided medical assistance and were able to regain a pulse. However, the subject died at the hospital a little over an hour later.

Officials say no foul play is suspected.
