(FOX40.COM) — Butte County native Aaron Rodgers, a longtime NFL quarterback who is currently with the New York Jets, partnered with North Valley Community Foundation to help evacuees affected by the Thompson Fire .

A total of $100,000 was deployed, according to a statement issued on Wednesday. The money comes from a fund created by NVCF dedicated to wildfire relief, and a fund Rodgers and NVCF created after the deadly Camp Fire hit Butte County in 2018.

Man allegedly started a backfire to try to combat the Thompson Fire, officials say

A news release said the money would be used for shelters, gas, food, diapers, coolers and other items.

“…I will always be committed to helping my beloved Northern California home areas,” Rodgers said in a statement. “My heart goes out to the families and communities affected, and we will be deploying funds immediately to help those in need.”
