Rare Frenchie-Dachshund Mix Has People Confused and Amazed All at Once

Things happen. Life finds a way - Jeff Goldblum said it best. Sometimes, life finds a way and presents us with an incredibly confusing creation, while other times, they're breathtaking. For example, the Golden Doodle: everyone loves a Golden Doodle.

What about a French Bulldog/Dachshund mix? It's a crossbreed that has barely ever been done before, but on Thursday, July 4th, one woman shared a video of one of these pups with the world. Apparently, they're her neighbors, but everyone wants to steal one:

While @southernsmoke710 hasn't gotten their hands on one of these puppies, they're lucky to be able to live next to them. What a bunch of cuties this litter must be!

In a follow-up video, the man who caught this girl on video is holding the puppy, and he says she's very sweet and that he kind of wants to keep her... Which, of course, people in the comments are wholeheartedly encouraging. Wee need to watch one of these pups grow up, obviously, and as a bonus, she'd get to grow up close to her mom! How sweet!

According to the neighbor, their male Frenchie and their female Dachshund managed to produce a litter together, and there are definitely at least a couple of puppies in the litter. They're all healthy, as far as we know, and TikTok once again never fails. They're Oui-ner Dogs.

Should I Let My Dogs Crossbreed?

We're not sure if the breeding between these two dogs was intentional in this situation. The puppies are very cute, and it's only natural to wonder if you can let the two dogs you love so much make babies, but generally, it's not advisable.

Intentional crossbreeding in general is becoming more and more controversial: mixed breed dogs often have health issues , especially when bred from two "unhealthy" breeds, which both Dachshunds and Frenchies are considered to be. Frenchies are brachycephalic (short-snouted) and have a lot of breathing and throat problems, while the length of a Dachshund creates tons of back and spinal issues.

Before letting two dogs breed, regardless whether they're the same breed or not, you need to consult your vet. They can do testing to make sure both dogs are physically ready and genetically sound - otherwise, there's a chance the puppies could inherit genetic disorders or diseases.

Having two opposite-sex, intact dogs is not easy. Currently, we have that couple: a boy, and my girl dog who is patiently awaiting her second birthday before she gets spayed. She's only had one heat so far, but we've got a routine down ; during her time, they were kept apart the entire time, and that was basically it. Some people choose to put their girl dogs in diapers or onesies when they're in heat, but ours managed to keep herself clean very well. I hope all of the pups from this litter all stay healthy - and that they get to keep one. I need to see her get older!
