    Delays expected for Route 271 in Cambria County

    CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers to expect delays on Route 271 (Nicktown Hill Road) from Route 553 to U.S. 219.

    Beginning Monday, July 8, a pavement preservation project will begin its next phase. Single-lane restrictions and Short-term traffic control will be used which could create delays of up to 15 minutes. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

    The tentative schedule for the next portion of the 2.7 mile, $1,165,000 project, contracted to Quaker Sales, Inc., Johnstown, Pa., includes milling of the roadway beginning July 8, base repairs to the roadway beginning July 11, and paving beginning the week of July 15.

    All work is weather dependent. The target date for completion of the project is August 8.
