LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — The Ski Broncs ski show team announced the cancelation of Friday’s show, another in a string of cancelations due to a “No Wake” order on the Rock River.

With the river at 8 feet, Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana issued the order on Friday, saying, “Boaters and WaveRunner Operators should proceed at a speed slow enough to not create a wake that could disturb other boats, docks, or shoreline areas.”

The sheriff had temporarily lifted the order on Thursday, for the Fourth of July.

“Here’s people that have boat docks, there’s wildlife, there’s all kind of erosion on the shorelines that erodes their properties. We want to be courteous because they are on the river. That’s the residents and it is affecting them. So that’s why there’s no way,” Caruana said this week.

The Ski Broncs have had a difficult season this year, despite recent $800,000 rennovations to Shorewood Park.

The Ski Broncs are a non-profit organization that was incorporated in 1967. They put on two ski shows a week, each Wednesday and Friday and those shows are free to the public.

The Ski Broncs have only won the national championship once in their 50 years. That was in 1991.
