DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Small businesses in Ohio have a chance to get their items in retail store locations.

Until July 15, entrepreneurs and small business owners in Ohio can submit an application to have a chance at getting products on the shelves of Sam’s Club and Walmart locations.

For items to be considered, they must be “shelf ready,” along with either being assembled, created or grown in the U.S., according to the rules .

“Open Call offers an extraordinary growth opportunity for even more Ohio small and medium businesses. Entrepreneurs who secure a “golden ticket” — a deal for Walmart to sell their products in stores or online — can gain access to a vast customer base, enabling significant growth,” said a release. “After earning golden tickets, Open Call winners often go on to grow their manufacturing footprints and create jobs within their local communities.”

Prohibited items from the Open Call include equine, livestock, poultry, music, movies, books, cigarettes, tobacco, tractors, musical instruments and more.

On Aug. 20, entrepreneurs will be contacted if they have been chosen to pitch their product.
