Alleged impaired driver reportedly goes 114 mph: OSP

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — An alleged impaired driver was taken off of the road in Montgomery County.

A trooper from the Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reportedly caught an alleged impaired driver traveling well above the speed limit on July 4. Dashcam footage shows the trooper take off after the vehicle at 8:36 p.m. on State Route 4 in Montgomery County.

In the area where the driver was traveling, the posted speed limit is 60 mph. According to OSP, the driver was allegedly traveling at 114 mph.

The footage appears to show the trooper turn their lights as an indicator for the driver to stop, but the driver continued to keep moving. An OSP spokesperson told 2 NEWS the driver did not flee nor elude, but was just slow to stop.

It appears to show the driver decided to stop on Harshman Road in between Mad River Middle School and Stebbins High School.

OSP confirmed to 2 NEWS that the driver was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speed and operator safety belt.
