Elon Musk takes a jibe at Zuckerberg over his ‘patriotic’ July 4th video

Billionaire Elon Musk didn’t appear to be impressed with the way Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg celebrated the Fourth of July.
On Thursday, Zuckerberg posted a video in which he is surfing while wearing a tuxedo, holding an American flag, and sipping bear.
The surfing stunt drew praise from his fans, but his different way of celebrating Independence Day failed to make his archrival happy.
Musk mocks Zuckerberg
“May he continue to have fun on his yachts. I prefer to work,” wrote Tesla boss in response to Zuckerberg’s video.
Meta CEO’s video quickly went viral on Instagram and received over 700,000 likes and millions of views.
Musk’s comments against Zuckerberg came a day after X rival Threads achieved 175 million monthly active users.
The video is part of a rebrand that has transformed Zuck from computer nerd to billionaire bad boy. In 2020, the Meta CEO was photographed on a board similar to the one in the Thursday video and was lambasted for his blue hoodie, shorts, and sunscreen-slathered face, reported Fortune .
Musk has previously targeted Zuckerberg
It’s not the first time that Musk has mocked Zuckerberg. The conflict of the top tech figures possibly escalated in 2023 over a blown-up satellite.
Earlier, Tesla CEO also challenged Musk for a cage fight that was canceled later by Zuckerberg, who blamed Musk for not confirming the date.
A few weeks later after launching Threads, Zuckerberg came in a direct competition to Musk, who owns X, the popular micro-blogging site formerly known as Twitter.
Following Musk’s takeover of X, the social media platform has reportedly plummeted and lagging behind social media rivals. However, Musk continues to claim that the micro-blogging site is still popular with its 550 million monthly active users.
By March 2024, daily active users on X were down 23% from the time Musk acquired it in late 2022. And in April, Threads overtook the site in terms of that metric: Threads had 28 million daily active users; X had 22 million, according to Quartz .
Following the launch of Threads, Zuckerberg has branded the platform as a “less angry” alternative to X and a better kind of social media for society.
The SpaceX boss couldn’t forget the cage fight that was canceled.
On Zuckerberg’s 40th birthday on May 15, Musk brought the matter up again. “If only Zuckerberg were as tough (sigh). I’ve offered to fight him any place, any time, any rules, but all I hear is crickets,” Musk posted on X.
