    Strong thunderstorms moving into North Jersey, flood advisory issued

    Strong thunderstorms are expected to impact parts of North Jersey on Friday evening.

    The National Weather Service has issued "special weather statement" that the storms could hit Bergen, Passaic and Essex counties in New Jersey, as well as counties over the New York border.

    At 7:45 p.m., "doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Harriman to Englewood," the NWS stated.

    Wind gusts up to 50 mph and hail is possible, the NWS stated.

    "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible," the NWS warns

    Food advisory in North Jersey

    The NWS also has a flood advisory in effect until 9:15 p.m. for Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Passaic counties.

    "Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected," the NWS warns. "Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent."
